flowspace :: a crucible for creative community

We built out our first flowspace in 2008, making props and supporting community, hosting guests artists and teachers from around the world, and inspiring the creation of other such spaces in the US and beyond.

In 2014, we moved to a new space, building it out over the span of 3 years. In addition to the flowtoys office & production rooms, flowspace 2.0 has evolved to comprise a stunning movement studio, a fabrication hub housing several other makers, including a lasercutting & CNC service and a 3D-printing company, and a soon-to-be flow arts & juggling retail shop.

That's our iconic movement and media studio in the photo :) We really wanted to "make the warehouse disappear" and Sean and Prisna designed the studio to hide every beam and rafter, while providing concealed and diffused lighting throughout the space.

If you’re in the San Francisco Bay Area, feel free to contact us for a visit, or attend one of our community events.

wednesday flowjams

Every Wednesday from autumn to spring, and every other Wednesday in the summer, we host a community jam that opens with a free workshop at 6pm, followed by an open jam from 7-9pm.

We put out loads of sample flowtoys for all to play with, there is endless popcorn, an occasional tea lounge, and a chance to meet and hang out with and learn from our local flow & juggling community.

workshops & retreats

Weekday workshops, weekend intensives, seminars such as Shape Summit, and prop-specific retreats like Club Congress, Staff Senate and Poi Parliament happen at the flowspace.

Learn from some of the world’s best instructors in a focused and inspiring environment designed specifically for our artform.
