How long will my flowlight last?

Battery life depends a lot on the mode you are in. Check the modes chart for average runtimes of each mode.

With freshly charged NiMH rechargeables, flowlights normally last for 7-24 hours in most modes, 2-4 hours in page 3 “performance” modes, and 1-2 hours in “bolder” and “bold” (all white modes).

Runtimes with disposable alkaline batteries are typically lower, and cheapo disposable batteries may last less than 30 minutes, as they cannot handle the amperage required.

Typical NiMH rechargeables hold a good charge for a few weeks. After that they may have less than 50% of their charge left, so we recommend charging batteries within a week of any important events, like festivals, parties or performances.

How do I open the battery door to change the battery?

We designed the battery door so that you wouldn’t need a screwdriver to open it. The battery door fits within the flowlight’s compact form and is designed to be secure, quick to open and help spread light around the battery without compromising the strength of the shell anymore than necessary. Sometimes opening the door can be challenging like a puzzle box, but there are several tricks to make it easy for everyone.

How do I connect 2 or more flowlights together?

If you have two or more flowlights in a tube - as in flowstaffs and flowchucks - you will need to attach the opposite ends of the flowlight to each other for the lights to fit in the tube. This also helps with sliding them in and out of the tubes.

Be sure to click them together and apart sideways (laterally as shown in the video), not up and down in the direction of the pivot (vertically), as this can cause some splitting at the seam and weaken the connection.

How do I adjust a mode?

Every mode has a parameter that can be adjusted. In most modes, it’s the color/hue, in others it’s the speed/density of the pattern, or the brightness.

To adjust a mode, do a long-press (hold for more than 0.75 sec.) and let go when the indicator flashes. The mode will cycle slowly through its adjustment.

When you see what you like, a button press will stop the adjust cycle, selecting that adjustment.

PAGE 5 MODE 1 :: GLOBAL BRIGHTNESS

  • Purpose: Makes all modes brighter or dimmer. Extend your battery life significantly, enjoy subtle beauty and improved night vision of dimmer settings. Stand out in a bright environment with brighter settings.
  • Adjust: Brightness of all modes and indicators. Levels 1-5
  • Indicator: Blinks level number.
  • Default: Level 3

Level 5 is brightest. Level 1 is dimest. Page 3 and some other modes are already as bright as they can get and will not change at level 4 or 5.

How do I save my favorite modes?

All modes in flowlight FS are adjustable/customizable. If you adjust a mode and want to save it - you can save it and find it again in favorites! This doesn't only apply to adjustments, you can save a mode for easy access, even if it's not adjusted.

Favorites is the 4th page in flowlight FS.

4 quick clicks takes you to page 4. Here you’ll see your most recently saved pattern first, and you can select from your last 10 saved patterns by pressing the button to cycle through them.

My flowlight isn't working right - help!

  • Are your batteries food and charged?
  • Clean your battery contacts

My flowlight button is hard to press.

You can try cleaning the battery spring contacts. The battery contacts might have some oxidation that is interrupting the connection between the battery and the light. This is exacerbated by the vibration between the battery and the contact. We recommend cleaning and applying vaseline to all the battery contacts -- a tiny bit works wonders and should last for many months.
