The whole setup is nice and solid, incredibly durable, modular, upgradeable, customizable, user-serviceable, and comes with our lifetime warranty and awesome customer service. If something fails, you only need to replace that single part for, at most, 50% of the cost of the part, but usually it's free. See warranty details here.
The flowtoys trikon dragon hub design is a step in the evolution of the LED dragon staff. Dragon staff as an art form was originally innovated by Hungarian fire spinning and prop making legend, Gora, in 2004.
The spiraled shape of the trikon design was inspired by Mickey Khoury’s “Viper” hubs released in 2015. Mickey has been supporting the dragon staff community for many years through innovative designs and moves through his company FlowForm in Australia.
The “conical” shape was invented by Sean of flowtoys to add dimensionality, better display the LEDs, create more clearance during use, and enable the staff to stand on its own. The use of flexible 3D printed parts to make a solid and incredibly durable transition between tubes, leashes and other prop components was developed by flowtoys in 2013 and has transformed the industry.
The unique conical dragon design looks and feels amazing, creates extra clearance, gives a better view from all angles, and stands up on its own. The outward angled spokes provide an extra 65mm/2.5" of clearance on each end, enabling a shorter shaft for better handling.
The 3D-printed TPU hubs are indestructible and can flex to absorb impacts. They fit very snugly on 3 different shaft diameters with optional adaptors, and can be tightened with an internal bolt and the included keychain hex-key (4mm / 5/32”).
22mm 1-pc Dragon staff shafts come standard with nimbus grip from Dark Monk. This silicone foam grip performs similar to the popular Goat Grip, with nice padding and incredible tackiness in wet and dry conditions, but it lasts way longer.

Nimbus grip is silicone and very fire resistant, and the Gaffers tape that we use to finish it in-house is fairly fire resistant, but there may be situations where the flame from your wicks is moving onto the tape for long enough to damage it. To handle extended contact with flame, you may want to finish the end with self-fusing silicone tape, which is included with each roll of Nimbus grip and is available on flowtoys.com.
The down-sides to the silicone tape is that it can more easily tear, and it does not have adhesive and can roll up the shaft if rubbed against staves or other objects, like when pulling out of a bag. This is why we do not recommend it unless it is needed.
All options are compatible with all our dragon heads, and most day, glow and fire heads from other makers, including Wizard of Flow, Threeworlds, Flowbonacci, Gora and HoP. As long as it fits outside a 22mm shaft or inside the 19mm ID it should fit.
This single solid piece of 22mmOD x 19mm ID carbon fiber with silver sheath is the most rigid and lightweight option and comes with the amazing foamed-silicone nimbus grip from Dark Monk.
This three-piece shaft is super solid and reliable, with metal push-button connectors for an instant but totally secure connection, and carbon fiber internal tube that will never bend or warp and is hand-tuned for a perfect fit with no wobble. Comes with the amazing foamed-silicone nimbus grip from Dark Monk.
The exact length of a dragon staff is not as critical as many other flow props, but in order to do “inside” moves, it should be about the length from the top of your sternum to the floor. This is long enough to do everything else and feels great. It is shorter than what most people are used to, but there is no fire to keep away from ;) If you are unsure, err on the longer side, you can always cut it down later.
Available in several standard lengths. Custom length available.
