Martial flow dart :: the first proper LED rope dart
We had been offering LED darts based on parts used for other props for many years, using flowcord for dart leash, crystal case or pod shells for a dart head. They were not ideal rope darts, but offered flow artists a fun LED dart option.
As rope dart became more of a serious flow art prop, with more practitioners using actual dart techniques, we felt we needed to level up our dart offering. Enter Frank Hatsis of the Rope Dart Academy.
Frank trained and competed with Rope Dart for 12+ years, and is an International Gold Medalist. He was interested in working with us to improve and co-develop an LED dart that would handle like a real rope dart. Frank proposed a lot of changes and together we developed a pretty darn awesome LED rope dart - the martial flow dart. After helping us develop the dart, Frank has visited the flowspace annually to teach a series of dart workshops. We've become good friends, and actively support each other. We also carry the high quality silk darts and cobra darts that the Rope Dart Academy makes.
As rope dart increases in popularity, we've started offering various dart leashes starting 2020, including cotton braided cord and silk cord made by the Rope Dart Academy, smithy cord that comes with many flowtoys props, and dragon rope X - a premium cord offered by Dark Monk.
Vision darts :: the evolution
As our technology evolved, so too have our LED dart designs. The vision light system was first released in vision clubs in 2018, and launched in other props in phases over the following years.
The first vision darts were made with spin16 boards, and while they put out a lot of light and were good for performance, they were not optimal for dart play. When we launched the spin9 board, the vision dart was perfected. With the heavier pod shell, pod sleeve and shorter spin9 board, the vision spin9 dart achieves the optimal balance between feel, handling and light output.
If you're looking for the optimal LED dart, we recommend the vision spin9 dart. We have retired the spin16 dart, and replaced it with the pop'n flow dart - if you're performing and want maximum light output, we recommend the pop'n flow dart. If you're looking to save money and want a good feeling LED dart, the martial flow dart is a solid choice.
