
Spinning a stick is one of the most intuitive and ancient forms of object manipulation. For eons, people around the world have used sticks for physical support, self defense and personal expression.
Staffs were the original flowtoys, born of Sean's pursuit to make the perfect pair of affordable light-up staffs for himself and his friends. While Sean prefers dancing with double staffs, there are a myriad of ways you can play with a staff. Many begin with single staff spinning, baton twirling, or are inspired by kung fu movies.
Baton twirling and bostaffs are mainstream modern forms of stick manipulation, with competitions at local through international levels. With the growth of flow arts, the last 10-20 years has given rise to many new ways to play with sticks, including contact and dragon staff, staff juggling, and multi-staff manipulation.
