vision® rope dart

I love this rope dart. The vision dart has so many cool modes to choose from and the nylon flag makes it look really cool when in motion.

The only thing I modified was the rope (I used dragon rope from dark monk) and I added extra weight. I already had one flow mass on the shaft but I found a 1” metal shaft collar off Amazon that I put in-between the flow mass and pod connector so that most of the mass is towards the end of the dart. You can add marbles to the slots in the pod but they come loose from use and get lost and this was the best solution for me. The assembled rope dart head weighs a little over 11 oz now which is perfect for me.

I've been a Flow Toys poi fan for years, but getting into Rope dart a year ago, it has been tough to find a LED dart that is enjoyable to spin. This one is an absolute DREAM to spin, and I love it just as much as my fire dart. The Pod Sleeve is such an ingenious design and not only protects the vision stick( which is ideal because I put my darts through the wringer) but the shape and weight are even more fun to spin!

I have a more dance-style of spinning, so I opted to add an extra mass to my dart and it was perfect - about the same weight as my RDA and my Dark Monk darts so there's not as much challenge switching between them whether I'm flowing with fire, light or just the dart.

Thanks to the kindness and speed of the Flowtoys team, they were able to accommodate an extremely last minute request that my Rope Dart arrive before Burning Man. Thanks to them I was able to enjoy hours of flowing and share the dart with others who were learning as well.

I have a spin9 Vision rope dart with the new pod shell and pod sleeves, and dare I say, it's perfect.

The first rope dart I bought was the martial flowdart. I loved it (and I still use it too!) but the three things I wished for after spinning for a while: a more weight, a little more end-focused weight (like a pod poi), and a softer tip because you WILL get bruises if you spin hard (and you WILL get bruises). When I saw the pod sleeve announcement, I bought this one almost immediately.

The new pod setup makes the spin9 absolutely gorgeous, and honestly feels like it's made for this setup. The pod sleeve feels pretty seamless, and is a nice squishy 3D printed material. It's thick and I don't have any concern about its longevity. It fits perfectly with a flow-mass. The product photos are pretty accurate to how lovely the lighting blending is in-person, and the modes are a blast to play around with. And if you're used to just capsules, this thing is BRIGHT. 36 LEDs can do some serious work. I grabbed the discounted capsule remote, which isn't required, but it's a nice bonus because the vision button can be a little harder to press at the bottom of the prop, and I don't regret having an extra capsule 2.0 around.

I went with the braided cotton cord, which works great; there's a reason that's the 'standard' for rope darts. Just know that it DOES have a little bit of 'break in' time, where friction with your hand smooths the cotton fibers. You'll probably get a little bit of rope burn until then. I found the RDA style nylon flow leash to be really comfortable for the martial flowdart, but a bit too light for the added weight and pull of the vision dart. I also have a silk leash purchased directly from RDA that is super smooth, slightly lighter than the cotton cord, and feels great on the vision dart. I tend to swap between the silk leash and the cotton cord.

Rope dart feels like a partner dance. I've spun poi for years, and upon discovering rope dart, it's become my new favorite prop, and the Vision rope dart was worth every penny.

These things are powerful performance darts. I thought I got a big reaction on stage when I was using the capsule 2.0 martial dart, but this... this is a whole other league. I'm so glad I got it almost two years ago. I got the spin16 version, and while it is definitely easier to see from farther distances and has a larger presence, it is also not as easy to control when flowing or performing. It took me some time to get used to the length, but I got there eventually. You do have to be somewhat more careful with your length of rope out, as it is easier to hit on the ground than you think. At least it takes the mistakes like a champ! I've hit it on the ground accidentally hundreds of times and it's completely unaffected, save for a cut in the flowcap.

I ordered the spin 16 and was worried about weight and toughness. When i received it, it blew me away. Its almost exactly wushu rope dart weight. And the kinetic awareness is next level. And its tough. But don't push it.
